Healthy Snacks

Posted on September 12th, 2009 by Nayab Naseer in Diet Logs

One common misconception is mistaken “natural” with healthy. This is a misconception, especially when it comes to snacks.

While some “natural foods” are healthy options, not everything “natural” or “pure” need be healthy. For instance, natural juice drinks could be filled with sugar, which in itself is a natural ingredient! Another example is that of the granola bar, which many people associate as a good source for vitamins and nutrients. The realty is hat granola bars is rich in fat, including the harmful trans fat. Some food claim to be “low fat” However, this could also mean an increase in the amount of sugar to retain the taste of the food. Many low fat versions have the same amount of calories as full-fat versions of the same food. One way to ensure that the snack consumed is healthy is by checking out the Nutrition Facts label on the package. Very often the claims made on the front cover would prove hollow when the nutritional facts are examined.
